Fairy Tales at Richmond
The Richmond staff members used three well known fairy tales to discuss with parents the importance of supporting literacy at home. Parents and students were invited to a literacy night event during which Snow White, Aladin, and Little Red Riding Hood were used by teachers to review story elements. Technology, books, and other manipulatives are examples of resources that were utilized during the event, but the biggest hit came at the end of the evening. More than 25 students submitted stories but only two of them were selected to be acted out by teachers. "Willie," by Anna and Claudia, is a story about being inclusive and "The Silver Foxes," written by Jasmin, is a fairy tale about making good choices.
